RULE #1 OF GROWING MARIJUANA IN YOUR HOME: IF YOUR HOUSE GETS BURGLARIZED AND PLANTS GET STOLEN, DON'T CALL THE POLICE!

Leedog A woman (54) who lives in Brant Township, 80 miles north-northwest of Detroit, had her house broken
into by two burglars who demanded one of the woman's marijuana plants. After they left, the woman then decided to call the police to report the crime that had just occurred. When the police arrived to investigate what had happened, they discovered the woman had been growing marijuana in her house and they subsequently arrested her on charges of manufacturing and delivering marijuana. She stated to police that she was growing the pot for her medical condition but was unable to provide the police officers with a medical marijuana card.

She stated to police that she was growing the pot for her medical condition but was unable to provide the police officers with a medical marijuana card. It's quite clear this woman was stoned or was still in a state of shock by just having her home burglarized to then get the police involved. It seems it would break every rule of growing an illegal drug in your own home to call the authorities if some of it were to get stolen. The woman has obviously become the neighborhood dealer and it was known that she was the place to go if anyone needed some chronic, that's why they broke into her house in the first place.
She was lucky that she wasn't seriously hurt (or worse) during the robbery and having one plant taken isn't worth getting killed over. It was apparent that she had other plants still remaining based on what the police officers found when they arrived at her home. Let the one plant go! Take it as a loss, sacrifice the one for the many, but there was never any reason to get the authorities involved in the first place, unless she just enjoys going to JAIL!

This is yet another case of where the pot-heads out there make the jobs of everyday polices officers too easy. I'm not a firm believer that if you smoke weed you're a criminal but the law is the law and they have the power to enforce it. Growing weed and getting charged with distribution are serous offences So, to have these so-called criminals go to their local police department and turn themselves, in my opinion, would be the same thing as inviting the authorities in your home with the evidence right there in plain sight. Either way they have you dead to rights... based on your own stupidity.

If they were really growing it for a medical condition then under Michigan law they will not go to jail. The police should go after the robbers as well and as long as she has a medical condition she will not go to jail.
