TWO CALIFORNIA WOMEN GET STOPPED WITH 20 LBS. OF GIFT WRAPPED MARIJUANA IN MISSOURI AND ONLY RECEIVE 1 TICKET AND A 1K BOND?

Leedog Are you kidding me? What the hell is going on here? Two women traveling from California to an unknown
destination, were pulled over in Joplin, Missouri for speeding. After getting pulled over, the two women gave consent to authorities to have them search their car. While searching the vehicle, the police discovered 20lbs. of marijuana in boxes that were gift wrapped as Christmas presents, along with some more weed stuffed in a small suitcase. After getting arrested, the two women only received 1 ticket along with a small $1000.00 bond. I'm not sure what the police officers in Missouri were thinking but this seems like a clear-cut case of drug trafficking.

I'm not sure what the police officers in Missouri were thinking but this seems like a clear-cut case of drug trafficking. The two women were pulled over with a lot of marijuana that I'm sure they were intending to sell or at least give some of it away as gifts. If I were pulled over with that much weed, I would expect some serious felony charges to be coming my way. It's quite obvious the two women received their weed through the medical marijuana system in California and were transporting it across state lines to resell and make their profit. People don't do this kind of stuff for free, the risks are too high, they were definitely in it for the money. Giving consent to have your car searched, knowing you have an illegal substance in the car, in large quantities... is not a very smart move. You might as was well just confess to the police officer the minute you get pulled over and immediately head to the back of the squad car. The two women have truly received a Christmas miracle. They could still be sitting in jail facing a 100k bond, they could have had their car confiscated, they could be facing serious prison time, have a permanent criminal record, etc. etc. The two women were very lucky!
As for the police in the fine state of Missouri... what is going on? Were these two women HOT blondes
from California and you decided to cut them a break? They only received one ticket, and based on how low the bond was, it sounds like they were charged with just a simply marijuana possession. Also, what happened to the probable cause ticket for speeding? This sounds like a perfect example of beauty taming the beast.

I think it is erroneous of you to assume that these women got their weed through legal methods via the California medical marijuana program as there are many ways to acquire weed in California. The picture shows that it is clearly outdoor grown weed that just about anyone can grow with enough space. Most of the weed for medical purposes in grown indoors and is of a higher quality.
I would have to agree with the previous comment. I've worked in law enforcement in CA for the past twenty years and my experience tells me this is not medical marijuana. We can assume that this marijuana came from a large growing operation because store-bought medical marijuana is simply too expensive to profit off of in these large quantities. This is not a problem with medical marijuana but probably the mexican cartels that are the least palatable of the alternative suppliers.
The linked article says something entirely different than the commentary posted here. I don't know if the story was updated at some later point, but here's the first paragraph I'm seeing:
